Overview

The Everest Base Camp trek, also known as EBC trek, is undoubtedly one of the most popular treks in Nepal. National Geographic has highly acknowledged Everest Base Camp trek as ‘One of the World’s Best Treks ‘. It is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The ultimate goal of this trek is to reach the base camp of the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest (8,848m). While on the trek, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique Sherpa culture, their lifestyle and Buddhism of the Everest region. Moreover, you will also explore Buddhist monasteries, museums and interacting with the locals. When you visit the most famous monastery called Tengboche Monastery you will have spiritual insights and feel the remarkable vibes of peaceful surrounding. The journey is really exciting and spiritual at the same time.

Reaching Everest Base Camp involves a gradual ascent through the high-altitude terrain of the Khumbu region, and proper acclimatization is required at two places particularly Namche Bazaar and Dingboche along the way to allow your body to adapt to the higher altitude  and to avoid altitude sickness and other health-related illnesses.

The journey to the Everest Base Camp starts with a mountain flight to Lukla and then begin the trek to Phakding . Next morning you will continue trek through upper Phakding following the Dudh Kosi valley, past the Sagarmatha national park and Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries until you reach Namche  Bazaar, Namche , a hub of all  trekkers and climbers, looks like a horse-shoe shape around the valley. After lunch you will spend some time making an excursion to Everest View Hotel to enjoy a glimpse of Mt Everest all through the way. It sounds unbelievable when you walk in the footsteps of legendary Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa to the ultimate destination of Mount Everest.  In Everest Base Camp trekking you will walk all the way through several settlements of the Sherpa people who are the original inhabitants of the Everest region.

The "once-in-a-lifetime" trek to Everest Base Camp offers breathtaking views of the world's highest mountain. The trip begins with the ultra-exciting flight to Lukla airstrip (the gateway to the Everest region) and then an enjoyable hike through Everest National Park which is incredibly rich in diverse flora and fauna, picturesque Sherpa villages, traditional markets, sacred Buddhist monasteries, and  observing the stunning Himalayan mountain views. From the summit of Kala Pathar at over 18,100 ft, you will enjoy a clear view of Everest's windblown summit with its famous perpetual blowing banner of cloud and snow. At Base Camp you will stand face-to-face with the fabled Khumbu Ice Fall and its towering seracs. The contrast of walking through lush, green, forested villages, to the stark, harsh world of rock and ice has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

March to May and September to November is the best time for Everest Base Camp trek.

Marvel at its immense dome and walk around its tiers, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of the surrounding area filled with shops, restaurants, and monasteries. Then, proceed to Pashupatinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, where you'll witness Hindu cremation rituals along the Bagmati River and observe devotees worshipping.

After entering Sagarmatha National Park, we will have a Lunch break. Then, we continue the trek following the trail that climbs steeply with breathtaking views. Namche Bazaar is known as the Gateway to Everest and is home to many quality Restaurants, Hotels, Lodges, Shops, Money Exchanges, Internet Cafes, and Bakeries. Then, you will climb up a few staircases and come across Everest View Hotel, one of the highest-placed hotels in the world located at an altitude of 3,800 m. From the hotel, you can enjoy good views of Everest and other outstanding Mountains. After spending a couple of hours at the hotel, you will descend to Namche Bazaar and visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and Mount Everest documentary Visitor Center.
Sherpa Culture Museum is built in traditional Sherpa design and architecture. It has showcased all the old and lost Sherpa artifacts in their original form resembling the Sherpa way of life in the past. The Museum consists of a family living room on the first floor with a separate family praying chapel.
Downstairs is the cow stable, yak dung, wood- and hey store just like a traditional Sherpa family house. It is a must-visit place in Namche Bazaar. At the Tourist Visitor Center, you will observe an assortment of things related to the climbing history of Everest Sherpa ascenders and learn about the Sherpa culture and life of the Everest region afternoon slide show. Overnight stay at Hotel in Namche.
Day 6

Today our trek from Namche Bazaar is relatively gentle to begin with; the path passes around the ridges and then descends down into the valley to again meet the Dudh Kosi River. From here the trail heads back up through the forest of Rhododendron bushes. When you reach the top there’s a Monastery village called Tyangboche. Here you can get to go inside the Monastery. From this village, we will head down towards Dibuche. Overnight at Lodge in Dibuche.
Day 7

Leaving Dibuche early morning, after breakfast, we followed the contour path through the Rhododendron forest, stunning trees that made us feel as if we were in Paradise! A huge river made its way down over boulders of rapids and waterfalls. We cross the river by a suspension bridge quite a few times. Spectacular scenery is all around.
Then, we gently climb and leave the forests behind us and enter into a scrub-type landscape, high up overlooking the river. Lunch will be at an isolated Tea House at Somare perched high up above the river. Below us are seen stone farmhouses, which look as if they were built in the Middle Ages.
From there it will be a 2-hour hike up to Dingboche, following a ridge. The village of Dingboche consists of a few tea houses. Overnight at Hotel in Dingboche.
Day 8

This day is planned as an acclimatization day in Dingboche. We don’t make progress towards Everest Base Camp. Instead, we will take a hike to Nangkartshang Peak just above Dingboche. The peak is an excellent viewpoint, especially for the gorgeous view of Mt. Ama Dablam. If the weather is clear, we will get to see Ama Dablam and many other peaks. Here, you can spend the afternoon strolling around the village. Overnight at Hotel in Dingboche.
Day 9

Today, the trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. After an hour's walk, we will reach Tukkla where we will have a Lunch Break for one hour. After lunch, we will continue our trek passing by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb as we are heading to the village of Lobuche which is located at the foot of the giant Lobuche peak. Overnight at Lodge in Lobuche.
Day 10

This is a big and difficult day walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp at 5,360m, the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. During spring, there will likely be expedition teams about to attempt the summit. The view of the Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp is spectacular. We return to the Hotel at Gorakshep for the night stay. (Optional: From mid-April to 25 May our team members can enjoy staying in our Tented Camps at Everest Base Camp. We provide all freshly cooked meals and drinks served by our chef and helpers. It will be a great opportunity to be with our climbing Members and Sherpas at the Base Camp.)
Day 10

Today it will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. Most of the morning is spent climbing Mt. Kala Patthar, a small peak at 5,545m. The ascent is demanding but the climber gets the most magnificent mountain panorama: Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8,848 m, towers directly ahead, and on all sides loom the giants such as Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse, and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorakshep have a hot breakfast, and then trek down to Pheriche. Overnight stay at Lodge in Pheriche.
Day 12

After breakfast, we leave Pheriche and board the Heli Mountain Flight. The flight from Pheriche to Lukla is pretty short, often only 15-20 minutes flying over 7000m via Khumbu Icefall and its surrounding mountain ranges. During the flight, you’ll see the close sight of mountains, one isolated mountain valley after another, and the terraced landscape of Nepal’s interconnected mountain ranges below you. After landing at Lukla we checked in the Hotel and relaxed. The afternoon is free, so you can wander about, and enjoy a hot shower! In the evening, we will have a few celebratory drinks and dance with our trekking mates. At the same time, tipping to the Guides and Porters can be done.
