Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Kathmandu.
Transfer to the hotel.
Rest and prepare for the trek.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2

Early morning drive to Pokhara.
Enjoy the scenic views of the countryside.
Explore Pokhara in the evening.
Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 3

Drive to Nayapul.
Begin the trek towards Tikhedhunga.
Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 4

Trek through rhododendron forests and traditional villages.
Reach Ghorepani, a popular stop on the Annapurna Circuit.
Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 5

Early morning hike to Poon Hill for sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
Descend to Ghorepani and trek to Swanta.
Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 6

Ascend through lush forests to Khopra Danda.
Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 7

Optional day hike to Khayer Lake, a sacred lake with stunning mountain views.
Return to Khopra Danda for the night.
Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 8

Descend to Tatopani, famous for its natural hot springs.
Relax in the hot springs.
Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 9

Drive back to Pokhara.
Rest and explore the city.
Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 10

Fly back to Kathmandu. Rest or Explore the city.
Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 11

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

Trip Notes

Best Time to Trek: The ideal seasons for the Khopra Danda Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months provide clear skies, stable weather, and spectacular mountain views.

Difficulty Level: The Khopra Danda Trek is considered moderate. It involves walking on well-established trails with some steep ascents and descents. It’s suitable for trekkers with a basic level of fitness.

Accommodation: Accommodation along the trek is in teahouses. These are basic lodges providing meals and lodging. Khopra Danda has a community lodge managed by the local community.

Permits: You will need an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card for this trek.

Altitude: The highest point on the trek is Khopra Danda at 3,660 meters. The optional hike to Khayer Lake reaches 4,660 meters. Proper acclimatization is recommended to avoid altitude sickness.

Cultural Experience: The trek offers a chance to interact with local communities, particularly the Gurung and Magar people, and to experience their traditional way of life.

Packing Essentials: Important items include sturdy trekking boots, warm clothing, a down jacket, a sleeping bag, trekking poles, a hat, gloves, a headlamp, and a first aid kit.

Guide and Porter: Hiring a guide and porter is recommended. The guide will provide valuable insights into the culture and ensure your safety, while a porter can help carry your luggage.

Health and Safety: Ensure you have travel insurance that covers trekking activities at high altitudes. It’s also important to carry personal medications and a basic first aid kit.
