Overview

A challenging and rewarding expedition in Nepal’s Annapurna region, this journey combines the classic Annapurna Circuit trek with the ascent of a 6,000-meter Himalayan peak. Rising to 6,419 meters, Chulu West offers an excellent opportunity for climbers looking to progress beyond trekking into true alpine mountaineering.

The expedition begins with a gradual trek through diverse landscapes, from lush lower valleys to the arid, high-altitude terrain of Manang. This approach allows for proper acclimatization before entering the climbing phase. From Base Camp onwards, the route transitions onto glacier travel and snow slopes, requiring the use of technical equipment such as crampons, ropes, and ice axes.

The summit push involves a steady ascent over snow-covered ridges and glaciated sections, rewarding climbers with breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, and surrounding Himalayan peaks. While classified as a trekking peak, Chulu West requires strong physical fitness, good endurance, and basic mountaineering skills.

This expedition is ideal for those seeking to gain high-altitude climbing experience in a remote and less crowded environment, while also enjoying the rich culture of the Himalaya and dramatic mountain scenery throughout the journey.
