I am Nga Tenji Sherpa, a dedicated high-altitude mountaineer with nine successful summits of Mt. Everest under my belt. As the founder of The Summit Force and a certified Wilderness First Responder, I am committed to making a meaningful contribution to the mountaineering industry. My journey has been filled with challenges and opportunities, shaping me into the person I am today.
Reflecting on my early years, I fondly remember growing up in a remote village in the Sankhuwasabha District, surrounded by yaks and sheep reared by my parents. Despite lacking basic amenities like motor roads and electricity, we found joy in simple pleasures, playing local games and dreaming of the world beyond our village.
As a teenager, I was captivated by the stories of climbers and the allure of the mountains. Despite financial constraints, my determination never wavered. A fortunate turn of events led me to a group of American tourists trekking to Mt. Makalu base camp, where I began my journey as a porter. Despite initial doubts about my capabilities, I proved myself by outperforming others and earning a generous tip, which I proudly sent to my parents.
Seeking better opportunities, I moved to Darjeeling and took on odd jobs to support myself. The physical labor was challenging, but it fueled my desire to be around tourists and pursue my passion for mountaineering. Eventually, I moved to Kathmandu, where I continued to work hard and hone my skills.
At 17, I summited Mera Peak, marking a significant turning point in my career. Over the years, I have climbed numerous peaks, including Mt. Everest, Mt. K2, Mt. Cho Oyu, and many others across Nepal, China, and Pakistan. Each ascent has been a unique and rewarding experience, reinforcing my belief that nature's beauty is endless.
Throughout my 17-year mountaineering journey, I have developed strong leadership and management skills. I've learned the value of life, the importance of teamwork, honesty, and dedication. These lessons have shaped me into the person I am today, guiding my mission to be the Summit Force.
I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way and proud to serve climbers from around the world. Each climb is a testament to camaraderie and the shared thrill of reaching new heights. As the mountains stand as silent witnesses to our endeavors, I am reminded of my sacred duty to steward this love for climbing and facilitate the dreams of those who dare to venture into the extraordinary. I am and will always be the Summit Force.
